Privacy

Your privacy matters to us.

This policy explains what information we collect, why we collect it, and how we look after it. If anything here isn't clear, just ask.

Coastline Care (“we”, “us”, “our”) provides disability support across Cairns and the northern beaches. We handle personal information in line with the Australian Privacy Act 1988 and the Australian Privacy Principles, and we treat any information about a person’s health or disability with extra care.

What we collect

We only collect information we genuinely need to respond to you and to provide support. Depending on how you get in touch, that can include:

  • Your name and contact details (email and phone number).
  • Whether you’re a family member, a participant, a support coordinator, or someone else.
  • What you tell us in your message about the person and the support they’re looking for.

Information about a person’s health, disability or support needs is “sensitive information”. We only collect it with consent, and only when it’s needed to help.

How we use it

We use your information to:

  • Get back to you and have a conversation about support.
  • Arrange a meet and greet and plan support that suits the person.
  • Deliver and coordinate services, and keep the right records while we do.

We don’t sell your information, and we don’t use it for anything you wouldn’t reasonably expect.

When we share it

We only share your information where it’s needed to provide support or where the law requires it. That can include support workers involved in a person’s care, or, with consent, other people in their support team such as a plan manager or support coordinator. Any provider we use to run this website or send email handles data on our behalf under confidentiality.

How we store and protect it

We keep your information secure and limit access to the people who need it. We hold it only for as long as we need it or for as long as the law requires, and then we dispose of it securely.

Access, correction and consent

You can ask to see the information we hold about you and ask us to correct anything that’s wrong. Where we rely on your consent, you can withdraw it at any time by contacting us, though this may affect our ability to provide support.

Complaints

If you have a concern about how we’ve handled your information, please contact us first and we’ll work to put it right. You can also raise it with the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) at oaic.gov.au.
